What is an inliner renovation?

Just imagine: Instead of tearing out the old pipe, we simply build it a new, stable "inner skin" from the inside. To do this, a polyester hose impregnated with special resin is inserted into the pipe and cured directly in the pipe. The whole process is carried out via existing shafts or inspection openings - in other words, without an excavator and without a building site on your doorstep.

The procedure is suitable for:

  • Public sewer systems

  • Roof water and rainwater pipes

  • Downpipes in buildings

  • Site drainage

  • Practically all common pipe diameters and materials

Even bends or difficult areas can be renovated with inliners.

Comparison: Inliner rehabilitation vs. classic excavation

Criterion

Inliner renovation (trenchless)

Classic excavation

Construction measures

Construction time

Costs

Service life

Impairment

Space requirement / construction site

Reworking

Possible applications

No digging - access via shafts or inspection openings

Minimal, often completed within one day

Significantly lower due to less personnel, material & machines

50+ years

Hardly any disruption for residents, passers-by or businesses

Very low, compact devices

Practically none, line can be used again immediately

Also for bends, difficult to access pipes or buildings

Excavation of roads, gardens, soil necessary

Several days to weeks possible

Higher due to earthworks, machinery, restoration of surfaces

similar (new pipe), but higher cost

Noise, dust, dirt and traffic obstructions

Large construction site, lots of storage and machine space

Restoration of road surface, garden or soil necessary

Only possible if the pipe is made freely accessible

The inliner renovation process - step by step

To give you an idea of how the process works, here are the most important steps:

Preparation & cleaning

First, the pipe is flushed with high pressure. Any deposits, roots or constrictions are removed by milling so that the original pipe cross-section is free.

Damage analysis by camera

We use a camera to check the pipe and record the exact damage pattern.

Inserting the liner

A resin-impregnated hose is pulled or blown into the pipe. This is the actual inliner rehabilitation.

Curing the liner

The liner is pressed against the pipe wall with compressed air or water and hardens there.

Final inspection

A new camera inspection ensures that the pipe is tight and fully functional.

Partial repair using a stainless steel sleeve

Alternative methods: Short liner & stainless steel sleeve

It is not always necessary to install a complete inliner.

  • Short liner / Partial refurbishment: Perfect for individual cracks or damaged areas. A small liner is inserted and cured with pinpoint accuracy.

  • Stainless steel sleeve (Quick-Lock system): Ideal for punctual damage, reliable for pipe diameters from 100 to 700 mm. Several collars can also be combined.

FAQ - Frequently asked questions about inliner renovation

How long do inline skates last?

Experience and tests show: 50+ years is realistic. This makes it a long-term solution.

Is the process suitable for every pipe?

Yes in almost all cases - whether concrete, vitrified clay, PVC or cast iron pipe. Even bends can be renovated without any problems.

Do I have to make do without a sewage connection during the work?

The pipe should not be used for the duration of the renovation (a few hours). It is then immediately ready for use again.

How high are the costs?

This depends on the length, diameter and damage pattern. One thing is certain: Compared to conventional excavation, inliner rehabilitation is significantly cheaper.

What happens if the line has completely collapsed?

Then only a replacement with excavation will help. The inliner method only works if the basic cross-section is still present.
